Vorenhout to coach Stepco BS Weert

Stepco BS Weert from the Netherlands’ Eredevisie will get a new head coach. They are hiring current assistant coach and former player, Niels Vorenhout to take over the reigns from American coach Jim Meil. The team was actually happy with Meil, but had to make a financial decision as their budget for the next season has been dramatically cut due to the loss of some key sponsors.

Vorenhout had to retire as a player in 2012 for medical reasons, but stayed with the team for the 2012-13 season as an assistant coach to Meil. Niels was with the team as a player from 2007 to 2012.  Stepco BS Weert were the Dutch league Champions in 1994 and last made it back to the Finals in 2001.
