NBA Set to Tip Off 67th Season

The NBA is set to tip off its 67th season today with the first three contests of the 2012-13 campaign; the Cleveland Cavaliers will host the Washington Wizards, the Los Angeles Lakers will entertain the Dallas Mavericks and the 2011-12 Champion Miami Heat will square off with the Boston Celtics in Miami.

The landscape of the NBA has changed dramatically over the off-season with blockbuster trades (Dwight Howard, Steve Nash, James Harden), a team moving (New Jersey Nets to Brooklyn), a team being sold (Memphis Grizzlies), a team trying to find a new home (Sacramento, new Arena or new town) and a town posturing for a team to move back (Seattle). The off-season also included a friendly competition that a few of the guys took time out of their down time from the league to participate in, the 2012 London Olympics.

This past weekend saw a flurry of activity at team headquarters across the country as the squads finalized their rosters by making cuts to get to the league maximum of 15 players. Now that the rosters are set, it’s time to see who’s making a run for the title. Will the Heat double up? Will the Lakers improve on their 0-8 pre-season record and put their massive payroll to good use and challenge the Heat? Will Oklahoma City make another run at the title? Who will be the surprise team of the year?

The 67th NBA season is set for the first tip off in a few hours, those questions and a lot more will begin to get answered at that time.
