MIA Academy: Georgian League Champions!

In an 86-80 victory over Olimpi Tbilisi, MIA Academy Tbilisi has prevailed to win the 2013 Georgian Superleague Championship. MIA Academy pounded the ball down low and outscored their opponents in the paint by a 20-point margin, 56-36. That made the difference in the game.

American imports Kirk Archibeque (205 cm, Fort Lewis’09) and Benjamin Raymond (198 cm, Xavier’09) provided both leadership and excellent production for MIA Academy. Archibeque finished with an impressive double-double, scoring 22 points and grabbing 12 boards. He was dominant in the first quarter scoring 10 points and collecting five rebounds. Raymond took over in the second quarter and was able to tally 21 points and 8 rebounds for the game.

Olimpi’s front court put up their own valiant effort in the loss. Mikheil Berishvili (205 cm) chipped in 25 points and seven rebounds, while Montenegrin center Stevan Milosevic (211 cm) contributed 17 points and four rebounds of his own.
