Mardy Collins joins Maccabi Ashdod

Mardy CollinsMardy Collins (198 cm, Temple’06) has agreed to join Maccabi Ashdod (Israel-Winner League) for the rest of the 2012-13 season. Collins most recently played for the Los Angeles D-Fenders in the NBA D-League, where he averaged 11.5 points and 4.6 assissts per game over 35 games. Prior to that he started the 2011-12 season in China with Jiangsu Nangang Dragons (China-CBA) and averaged 21.5 points per game over 4 games. He suited up for Temple University for 125 games over our seasons, coming out of the Atlantic-10 school carrying a 15.4 points per game average, with his best season being his junior year where he contributed 17.4 points per game. Collins was drafted by the New York Knicks in the 1st round (29th pick overall) of the 2006 NBA Draft and played two seasons a part of a third in New York. The Knicks traded Collins in Nov of 2008 to the LA Clippers and played the rest of 2008-09 and the 2009-10 seasons in Los Angeles. Collins was released by the Wizards and he signed with Bornova Bld (Turkey-TBL) in Jan., 2011.
