Manuchar Markoishvili headed to Turkey

Manuchar Markoishvili (196 cm) is headed to Turkey to play for Galatasaray Medical Park Istanbul (TBL). He is leaving Mapooro Cantu from Italy’s Serie A. Markoishvili’s contract is expiring next summer and Galatasaray and Cantu are just finalizing the last details of the buyout of his contract. The Turkish team is looking for talented manpower to replace David Hawkins, who failed a recent doping test.

Markoishvili has been with Cantu for three and a half seasons now. In 2012-13, three games in the Euroleague’s qualifying round, the Georgian player averaged 11.o ppg and 2.3 rpg. Before that, in the 2011-12 season, he averaged 10.7 ppg and 3.2 rpg through 37 games in the Italian league. He managed to do 9.1 ppg and 2.7 rpg in 16 games playing for Cantu in the Euroleague that season.
