Andrei Kirilenko is the new president of the Russian Basketball Federation. The former NBA forward and star player of CSKA Moscow (Russia-VTB) recently retired as a player in June 2015. He will now work off the court to sort things out in his beleaguered basketball federation. The organization was suspended in July by FIBA due to continuous infighting and legal troubles. He now aims to repair their relationship with the governing body as well as help the Russian national team prepare for international competition.

He was a former member of the Russian national team and won a bronze medal with them at the 2012 Olympic games. The dynamic forward sported a well-rounded game and played 10 seasons for the Utah Jazz, beginning in 2001. During his time with the Jazz, Kirilenko averaged 12.4 ppg, 5.6 rpg, and 2.0 bpg.
