Janis Blums extended by Panathinaikos

Greek club Panathinaikos Athens (Greece-A1) has locked in Latvian guard Janis Blums (191 cm) and will be keeping him through 2016. The 32-year-old guard has been a member of the Latvian national team from 2002-09, 2011-12, and again this 2014.He joined the team this 2014-15 and they seem to be happy with his performance thus far. He played four games for them in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague and averaged 8.5 ppg and 0.5 apg. In the domestic Greek league he has already played 5 games and there he was able to average 7.6 ppg and 1.2 apg.

Janis spent his 2013-14 season playing for BC Astana (Kazakhstan-D1). During the team’s run in the VTB United league Blums was able to play in 19 games and he delivered averages of 10.5 ppg and 1.7 rpg
