Fabricio Melo heads out of Dallas

Fabricio MeloFabricio Melo (212 cm, Syracuse’12) has been released by the Dallas Mavericks of the NBA and is once again looking for a team. The center was also released by the Memphis Grizzlies earlier in the summer after the franchise decided not to retain his services. The big man is considered one of the hottest Brazilian properties after he was drafted by the Boston Celtics (1st round, 22nd pick) during the 2012 NBA Draft.

He only managed three games with averages of 1.3 points and 3.7 rebounds for the Celtics before being moved out to the Maine Red Claws (D-League). With the Red Claws he played 35 games with averages of 9.7 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.

His performances for the Claws were enough to put him back in NBA contention but he will now probably head back out to the D-League after departing the Mavericks.
