Chuck Eidson is leaving Barcelona and has signed for Russian team Uniks Kazan. For many, this came as a surprise since Eidson is under contract with Barcelona for the 2012/2013 season and there is an option for the 2013/2014 season as well. At the Final Four in Istanbul a rumor was launched that Eidson-Barcelona was maybe not the perfect marriage and that both sides would be open to a divorce. None of that was true, but it was a strong rumor that then also started to create a buzz among several teams who contacted both Eidson and Barcelona. This went on all summer, until both parties said that “everything has a price” and that if anybody would offer both Barcelona and Eidson a deal that was too good to refuse, then they would listen. Lately the list of teams was narrowed down to Galatasaray and Uniks Kazan. Ultimately, it was Kazan who came away with the deal a few days ago and they confirmed it today via a press release.
