Dusko Ivanovic waived by Panathinaikos

Dusko IvanovicGreek giant Panathinaikos Athens has parted company with head coach Dusko Ivanovic after the club decided to waive his contract. The Montenegrin paid the price for an up and down Euroleague campaign, a recent loss to arch rival Olympiacos, and a defeat at the hands of OAKA on the weekend.

The Greens have been in shaky form recently, despite still sitting second in the Greek A1 it is thought the club crashed out of the Euroleague (against CSKA Moscow) too easily. It is also being suggested that Ivanovic did not use enough youth players, a plan the front office had for the club this season was to develop younger talent.

Dusko Ivanovic joined Panathinaikos at the start of this season on a two year contract after last helming Caja Laboral Vitoria in the Spanish Liga Endesa. He failed to spark The Greens in the same way he did the Spanish club for four seasons and has now been replaced by assistant coach Sotiris Manolopoulos, marking his first time in the tactician’s hot seat.
