Curtis Jerrells pens a deal with Besiktas JK
Besiktas JK Istanbul announced the signing of Curtis Jerrells (1.85m Baylor ’09) for the upcoming season. Jerrells played for UCAM Murica of Spain last year, but only played two games before breaking a bone in his foot and missing the reason of the season. Prior to that, he had started the 2011-12 season with Fenerbahce Ulker in Turkey, averaging 8.6 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game in 14 Euroleague contests. Jerrells played his college ball at Baylor where he became the second player in school history to accumulate 1,000 points, 400 assists and 100 steals. He was the first player in Baylor history to lead the team in scoring and assists all four seasons. After graduating from Baylor, he was drafted by the San Antonio Spurs of the NBA, but was never signed by the club. Instead, he spent the season playing for the Austin Toros of the NBA D-League. He signed with Partizan Belgrade of Serbia after that season.
