Coach Dusko Ivanovic has been fired by Spanish ACB team Caja Laboral. The Basque team has had a slow start of the season with a 5-3 record in the ACB plus 1-5 in the Euroleague, and has now also lost two home games in a row. This weekend against Spanish team Blusens Monbus Obradiro and on Friday in the Euroleague against Greek Olympiakos.

Nevertheless, this is a big decision since the 55 year old Montenegrin has coached the Basque team for a total of TWELVE (non-consecutive) seasons and is one of the biggest name in international basketball.

Caja Laboral offered Serbian Svetislav Pesic to become the new head coach, but he rejected the offer. The next in line now seems to be Croatian coach Neven Spahija.

Jeeeez! Surprising..! One of the better (toughest) coaches around.

I tell you what: A top college team would do good in getting him. Or an NBA team.
I dont understand why the Ivanovic’, the Pesic’, the Ivkovic’ dont get offers out of the US. They will immediately raise the level.
Where now college ball is purely on (athletic) skill, they would make a team complete adding an advanced tactical scheme. Bringing in more Ws and allowing the players to flourish to the max.
