Coach Aco Petrović resigns from Cedevita

Aco Petrović

Tonight Croatian team Cedevita Zagreb and Serbian team Partizan Belgrade played a crucial game in the Adriatic League. The winner would have good chances to qualify for the Final Four and keep the hopes alive for Euroleague participation next season. In a very tight game Partizan pulled away with a 77-76 victory. Coach Aco Petrović of Cedevita resigned immediately after the game.

Since we don’t have a chance to qualify for the Final Four anymore, it is better to let somebody else lead the team. I had expected that we would win the Croatian cup and also qualify for the Final Four of the Adriatic League, but now it makes no sense for me any longer to stay here.

Assitant coach Jakša Vulić will take over (again) after the departure of Aco Petrović . He already was in charge of the team earlier on in the season when Serbian coach Božidar Maljković unexpectedly resigned.

It was a mistake to hire him.
