More than anything, we know that Basketball is not only a U.S. sport anymore.
In years past, basketball has been most popular in Southern Brazil, specifically in the South East in the Sao Paulo, the country’s most populous state.
With Brazil’s economy growing, new squads are being formed around the country and a new, large fan base has developed, especially in the North East.
As the popularity has grown, teams are being formed countrywide and traditional teams are moving up the ranks of teams, such as a squad from Pernambuco in the North, which is moving to the Pro league this season.
According to fans in the North, the popularity will just increase and that will mean more new teams and a greater fan base across the country.

I am not surprised at all with the World Cup Soccer and the Olympic Games coming up + the very positive economic situation overall, all sports should benefit from it, including basketball off course.
