Andrew Lawrence vs. KK Zadar at BAT

British player Andrew Lawrence and his agent, Mario Scotti, filed a claim against former club KK Zadar (Croatia-A1) at the Basketball Arbitral Tribunal (BAT) for outstanding salaries, bonuses, agent fees, and interest. He played for KK Zadar in the 2013/14 season. According to Article 16.2 of the BAT Rules, the Arbitrator issued an award without reasons.

The Award reads as follows:

1. KK Zadar s.d.d. is ordered to pay to Mr. Andrew Derek Renaldo Lawrence outstanding salaries in the amount of USD 10,000.00 and outstanding bonuses in the amount of USD 3,000.00.

2. KK Zadar s.d.d. is ordered to pay to Mr. Andrew Derek Renaldo Lawrence interest of 5% per annum
– on the amount of USD 5,000.00 from 11 May 2014,
– on the amount of USD 5,000.00 from 11 June 2014 and
– on the amount of USD 3,000.00 from 20 October 2014.

3. KK Zadar s.d.d. is ordered to pay to Mr. Mario Scotti the outstanding agent fee in the amount of EUR 5,000.00 plus interest of 5% on that amount from 30 September 2013.

4. KK Zadar s.d.d. is ordered to pay jointly to Mr. Andrew Derek Renaldo Lawrence and to Mr. Mario Scotti the amount of EUR 3,500.00 as a contribution towards their legal fees and expenses. KK Zadar s.d.d. shall bear
its own legal fees and expenses.

5. The costs of this arbitration until the present Award, which were determined by the President of the BAT to be in the amount of EUR 5,000, shall be borne by KK Zadar s.d.d. alone. Accordingly, KK Zadar s.d.d. shall pay jointly to Mr. Andrew Derek Renaldo Lawrence and to Mr. Mario Scotti EUR 5.000.

6. Any arbitration costs associated with a Request for Reasons shall be advanced and borne by the requesting party.

7. Any other or further-reaching requests for relief are dismissed.
