Alexander Savchuk, President of BC Azovmash, Dies at 59

November 11, 2012 by 59-year life died MP, an outstanding organizer of Engineering of Ukraine, President of PJSC “Azovmash” President “Azovmashinvest Holding” Alexander Savchuk.

Alexander Savchuk was born August 6, 1954 in Belopole Sumy region in a family of teachers.

His whole life is linked to Mariupol. Here he was in high school, graduated from Zhdanov Metallurgical Institute. Then from 1976 to 1978, was a design engineer Zhdanovsky mechanical plant. From 1978 to 1980 he worked in Komsomol bodies, from 1980 to 1982, served as an officer in the Soviet Army. From 1982 to 1986 he was at the party work.

Since 1986, the AV Savchuk went to work in “Azovmash”. He was deputy head of the department № 23 (manufacture of general machinery). Leading trailing plant № 27, in a short time he brought it to the best in the company and the ministry. In November 1990, Alexander Savchuk was appointed director general machinery production association “Azovmash” and in October 1991 – the director of the state company “Azovzagalmash” concern “Azovmash”. In connection with the corporatization of the company since October 1991 became Chairman of the Board – General Director of OJSC “Azovzagalmash.”

In a short time led by AV Savchuk Open Joint Stock Company “Azovzagalmash” became one of the best in engineering in Ukraine.

In 1998, Alexander was elected Chairman of the Supervisory Board of “Azov”, December 1999 – Chairman of the Board – General Director of the Company, which was later JSC “MZTM.” In April 2000, on the basis of joint-stock companies “Azov”, “Azovzagalmash”, “GSKTI”, “MT” is created of “Azovmash”. Its president is Alexander Savchuk. A position he holds to this day. In 2006 and 2007 Alexander on party lists Regions Party was elected deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. And in 2010, in connection with the creation of “Azovmashinvest Holding” became its President.

Under the leadership of Alexander V. Savchuk Mariupol engineering complex PJSC “Azovmash” becomes the leader Engineering CIS and Ukraine, a leading global company dedicated to producing freight cars and equipment for heavy industry. He elaborated on the strategy of innovative development in Mariupol created powerful-mill, providing full cycle of freight cars in the enterprises “Azovmashinvest Holding”.

Alexander Savchuk for his outstanding contribution to the development of the Ukrainian economy has been awarded three orders of “Merit” awarded “Honored Engineer of Ukraine,” he honorary citizen of Mariupol. For his great contribution to the revival of spirituality AV Savchuk was awarded the Order of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate). Based on his initiative charity “Azovmash” erects a temple of the Protection of the Mother of God, one of the largest in Ukraine.

Alexander Savchuk did a lot for the development of sports, not only to “Azovmash”, but also in Ukraine. Since 1998, he has headed the wrestling club “Azovmash”, and since 2000 – the sports club and the basketball club “Azovmash”.

President of BC “Azovmash” A. Savchuk made the basketball team, which became the seven-times champion of Ukraine, winner of the Cup of Ukraine and international tournaments. SC wrestlers “Azovmash” won the European Cup, were winners at the Olympics, the World Cup, Europe, Ukraine.

Thanks A. Savchuk built Palace of Sports “Azovmash” reconstructed park them. Petrovsky, dispensary “Health” Palace of Culture “Spark”, the area of ​​Mechanical Engineers, built cultural and sports facilities, conducted house-building.

Alexander Savchuk – a scientist and economist, author of 3 books, 100 scientific articles. He – the doctor of economic sciences, professor, head of the Mariupol State University, member of the Academic Council PSTU, repeatedly called the best top-manager in Ukraine, was among the most influential Ukrainians.

Death took the life of an outstanding man, but remained fond memories of him, he created a new, powerful Mariupol engineering complex and his good deeds and achievements.
Alexander Savchuk was a strong, principled man, a real leader. So it will remain in our memories and our hearts. His name went down in history forever Mariupol Donbass and Ukraine.
