Court Side and Dutch basketball lost a giant with the passing away of Harry Kip on Monday the 22nd of September

On Monday the 22nd of September Harry Kip passed away. Harry had been struggling with health problems for several months and was diagnosed with cancer (non-Hodgkin) a month ago, and was thereafter immediately hospitalized. Despite chemo-therapy, Kip's condition deteriorated rapidly until he passed away earlier this week, leaving Court Side and the international basketball world behind in shock. Dutch basketball lost one of its greatest players ever. Kip had a lengthy career with the national team, making his debut in 1967. As captain of the National team and 163 caps, Kip also won five Dutch championships during his career. After a short coaching adventure with Hatrans Haaksbergen, Kip finished the Pedagogic Academy and became co-ordinator and proces manager for a special school in Enschede for future top-athletes. Several of his former students later became professional soccer players for FC Twente. Together with fellow basketball agents Jan Lugtenburg and Dejan Vidicki, Kip co-founded the basketball agency Court Side in 1997. Kip will be laid to rest on Saturday the 27th of September at 10.30 a.m in his hometown Markelo. Kip leaves behind son Harmen, daughter Annewil and wife Wil. Kip was 55.
